About Us

Hello and welcome to Growing Crazy – where a love of Pelargoniums turned into something a little bigger than planned!

I’m Steven, the grower behind Growing Crazy, based just at the foot of the Cotswold in the beautiful Vale of Evesham. What started as a lifelong fascination with Pelargoniums, after working at the National Pelargonium Collection with Hazel Key in my teens, has grown into a small, specialist nursery dedicated to preserving and sharing Pelargoniums – especially the heritage, rare, and unusual varieties that tell a story.

I’ve always been drawn to the history and personality of Pelargoniums and the complete diversity the genus has. Some of the varieties we grow first appeared in Europe in the 1700s, when plant collecting was an art form and gardeners proudly displayed their prized blooms in grand conservatories. Growing these plants today feels like keeping a little piece of that history alive.

At Growing Crazy, everything is grown by hand using traditional methods. I raise each plant myself in our greenhouses – no artificial lighting or shortcuts, just patience, and care. The result is strong, quality, healthy plants that are ready to thrive in real gardens, not just perfect photos.

In 2024, Growing Crazy and the team was featured on the TV show BBC Gardeners’ World and went on to win Gold at BBC Gardeners’ World Live, which was a huge honour and a wonderful way to share our passion for Pelargoniums with a wider audience – whilst also getting to chat to Rachel de Thame and Monty Don!

When I’m not in the greenhouse, you’ll often find us at plant fairs and flower shows around the country, chatting with other plant lovers and swapping stories about favourite varieties. Those conversations are what Growing Crazy is really all about – sharing enthusiasm, knowledge, and the joy of growing something special.

If you love Pelargoniums as much as I do (or you’re just starting to), I hope you’ll enjoy exploring our collection. Whether you’re after a scented-leaf variety, a trailing showstopper, or a heritage gem with a story to tell, you’ll find it here.

Thanks for visiting,

Steven
