Reflecting on a Blooming Year: Our 2024 Pelargonium Season in Review
Share
As the curtain falls on our Pelargonium season this year, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our amazing customers and followers. This year has been nothing short of fantastic, filled with exciting moments, new connections, and, of course, beautiful blooms.
A Busy Start with Pre-Orders and Our First Plant Fair
The year kicked off with stronger-than-expected pre-orders for our Pelargonium plants, which kept us on our toes! While fulfilling these orders, we were also busy preparing for our first shows of the season. In April, we had the pleasure of meeting many of you at the Spetchley Rare Plant Fair. Despite the rain and gloomy weather, your enthusiasm brought a burst of sunshine to the event. It was wonderful to hear about your favourite Pelargonium varieties and even help some of you reconnect with long-lost favourites. Your stories and passion truly inspired us!
Stepping Up at the Blenheim Palace Flower Show
Buoyed by the success at Spetchley, we dove headfirst into preparations for the Blenheim Palace Flower Show. Being invited to this prestigious event was a great honour, and we saw it as a chance to share our deep love for Pelargoniums with a broader audience. We experimented with Pelargoniums in various culinary delights, from teas to cakes. Harry’s Pelargonium Rose and Pelargonium Lemon cakes were a hit at our stand and we will share the recipes soon, promise!
The Blenheim experience was nothing short of incredible. From the supportive show team to the encouraging fellow exhibitors, everyone made us feel at home. Our display, brought to life with the help of family and friends, was praised even before it was completed. And let's not forget our 15-week-old Labrador puppy, the Pelargonium Princess, who stole the show!
Winning the Gold medal was an emotional moment for all of us—Steven, Harry, and Dianne shed a few happy tears (all caught on camera!). But the day got even better when we were awarded the Best in Show. For our first horticultural show, this recognition was beyond our wildest dreams. We’re so grateful to everyone who visited our stand and shared in our excitement—we promise we’ll have more demonstrations coming soon!
Back to Reality and Looking Ahead
After the whirlwind of the Blenheim Flower Show, it was back to reality. We quickly got back to work, taking more cuttings, processing orders, and making space in the greenhouses. Although our season is wrapping up, there’s still plenty of life left in your Pelargoniums, so enjoy them while they last!
But there’s no rest for the Growing Crazy team! We’re already hard at work updating our website to make next year’s ordering process even smoother. Plus, we’re excited to introduce some new and unique Pelargonium varieties to our collection. After the joy of this year’s shows, we’re planning to attend even more next year, so stay tuned to see where we’ll be popping up.
In addition to all this, we’re in the midst of moving to a new location, where we hope to welcome you in person in the near future. This means relocating our entire collection and mother plants temporarily while we prepare our new growing space—there’s never a dull moment here!
Stay Connected
We’ve had a wonderful year, and it’s been amazing to see a lifelong dream start to take shape. We can’t thank you enough for your support and encouragement. As we head into the winter months, we’ll be sharing our progress and exciting new developments on social media, so be sure to follow us for updates and a peek behind the scenes.
Happy growing,
The Growing Crazy Team
