May in the Pelargonium Palace: Time to Feed, Pot On and Prepare for Summer!
Share
As the weather continues to warm up across the UK, it finally feels like summer is on the way! For many of us, the risk of frost has now passed — but it’s still worth keeping an eye on those night-time temperatures, especially if you're in a cooler or more rural spot.
We have been very busy over the last months attending plant fairs and shows. We were at Spetchely Park Gardens for their specialist plant fair and we were also asked to do a display for Keder Greenhouses at RHS Malvern Spring Festival to show off how great the growing conditions in the Pelargonium Palace have been.
We were also invited to attend one of Whichford Pottery's Specialist Nursery Days this month which was a fantastic opportunity for us to meet lots of fellow Pelargonium enthusiasts and share some quality plants with. Busy busy busy! :-)
To keep you busy, here are a few top tips for caring for your Pelargoniums this month:
Watering
Pelargoniums love consistent care. Keep an eye on your plants to make sure they stay evenly moist — not too dry, but not waterlogged either. Good drainage is key to healthy roots.
Feeding
Now’s the perfect time to start feeding your Pelargoniums regularly. We recommend using a high-quality liquid fertiliser. A tomato feed is one of our go-to favourites — it’s rich in potash, which helps promote lots of lovely flowers.
Repotting
If you’ve bought Pelargoniums from us recently (thank you!), or even if you picked up a few elsewhere (we won't judge you), make sure you pot them into fresh, good-quality compost. The better the compost, the better the display! Investing in premium compost now will really pay off throughout the summer season.
We’re currently very busy behind the scenes here at Growing Crazy, potting on plants and preparing for two of our biggest events of the year:
🌟 BBC Gardeners' World Live
🏰 Blenheim Palace Flower Show
We’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes updates in the coming weeks — keep your eyes peeled on the blog and our socials to follow along as our displays take shape!
Until then, happy gardening — and thank you for supporting our growing nursery.
